The convertible variant features a regular fabric roof, but does not feature the aluminum side blades which have become a widely loved part of the R8. Further features alluded to are chassis strengthening, the removal of the rear pillars, new air intakes located behind the seats and the addition of a pair of safety roll-over bars. The test car seen by onlookers appears to be the top end RS version, if the new grille design, the exhaust and diffusers are any indication. The R8 Spider will likely be shown at the Geneva Motor Show in March of next year.

Pictures of the brand new Audi R8 in a Targa or Spider configuration.

The R8 has a lot going for it these days. V10 test mules have been spotted, rumors of a TDI version are being spread, now there are sketches being done with no roof.
