If you’ve seen the famous CTS-V vs. M5 battle, you know who John Heinricy is. If you’ve seen the new Z06-ZR1 you must know who he is.

Having had a hand in several of the vehicles in the performance division of General Motors, Heinricy is leaving behind a legacy that will be hard to match. Not only a decorated engineer, but also a world class driver, Heinricy ends his career with GM after 40 years. Perhaps he wanted to call it quits before GM went belly up, who knows. He will be sadly missed.

The retail pricing for the upcoming 2009 Cadillac CTS-V was announced today. They seemed to have fixed the vibration issue on launch on the newer model with unequal length half shafts.

The CTS-V was recently pitted against the M5 at Monticello Motor Club, which it has beat by a hair. It’s 556hp 6.2L superhcarged engine can make some jam through the 6 speed manual transmission. Recaro seats along with Magnetic Ride Control are standard on this car.

At just under $60k it’s a decent deal. Similar performance sedans have MSRP’s $20-30k higher then the V
