Diesel is just beginning to make its comeback in the U.S., and BMW is ready to capitalize on that with a more powerful version of its 3.0L twin-turbo six-cylinder diesel engine. The extra grunt will help to move larger cars around more efficiently.

BMW to introduce 306hp Turbo Diesel
Bio Diesel?
So I’ve been reading about Diesels and all, slowly coming around and entering the North American market. It’s kind of exciting to see the people look at these cars from a different perspective then they did 5 years ago as being slow, smoky and prone to breakage.
BMW is introducing the 335d, Mercedes is introducing the GL320 BlueTEC and Audi is bringing in a diesel Q7 TDI. Judging by the numbers a Touareg sells for with a diesel engine compared to a gas one, one must wonder if diesels are magic.
Reading about the new line of diesels, it is downright scary the amount of maintenance they require. I mean do I really have to take my car to the dealer on a regular basis to top up my urea additive? What about jiffy lube? are they going to be able to add urea, or is the kid going to have a long term defect when he fills up my urea tank?
I read on Wikipedia, that this urea reacts violently to some nitrites. I wonder if it explodes on impact if the car gets into an accident that has a container of it. Kinda like Nitrous Oxide.
Other then that, it’s also like urine, except highly concentrated. Maybe this is one step closer to having a vehicle that runs on water. What does this have to do with diesels?
In order to be completely environmentally friendly, urea is added to diesel fuel in order to burn more cleanly. I wonder how concentrated urine is going to make my car burn more efficiently. I’ll be on the lookout once more scientific data comes out.
