Ford Fiesta launched in China

The new Ford Fiesta subcompact went into production in China Thursday at a plant in Nanjing owned by Ford Motor Co. and its venture partner Changan.

Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Co. is assembling four door sedan and hatchback versions of the car, which will go on sale in China later in the first quarter.

While co-president Tom LaSorda denied Wednesday morning that Chrysler would ever consider selling Jeep or its two other brands to another company, he had no answer on the potential sale of Chrysler LLC as a whole. “That’s all done at the Cerberus level,” he told reporters on a conference call.

Hyundai’s Kia brand was considered an also-ran automaker just a few years ago, but the Korean automaker has really been stepping up its efforts as of late. Kia will continue that push with a host of new technologies in the coming years, with the first showing up in European markets later this year.
