According to the industry group ACEA, August auto sales have slumped 15.6% in Europe. Failing consumer confidence and increasing fuel costs were some of the main reasons, which contributed to the decline.
All but found of the 28 participating countries in the study have reported slumping sales. The four countries, which sold more vehicles then same time last year were: Portugal, Bulgaria, Czech Republic and Slovakia.
The biggest decrease in new car registrations came from Spain, which declined 41% over last year. Registrations fell 26.4% in Italy and 18.6% in the UK.
In August, Nissan has outperformed last years numbers by 20.6%, while Alfa Romeo’s sales have slumped 32.1%.
