breaking R/C stuff

Well I picked up a Kyosho Inferno ST truggy.  So far broke the following:

  • front lower control arm
  • front upper control arm
  • front lower kingpin
  • front upper kingpin
  • rear lower kingpin
  • bent right front u joint
  • servo for the throttle failed
  • battery tray broke
  • exhaust twisted but not broken
  • front driveshaft slightly twisted, not broken, still useable

Overall despite the broken parts, it’s been a pleasurable experience.  Breaking it in was fun and I seem to be on my 5th tank now.  It’s definitely not for the faint of heart, as these little machines do pack quite a punch… I laughed when I thought that they might be a little childish, especially when I started doing 4 foot jumps with them…

Weather in May

Today is the 16th of May, what some would consider the May 24 long weekend.  Unfortunately the weather is not co-operating with us fully here in not so sunny Ontario.  What we have here is a long weekend destined to have a rained out drag event.  I am rather shocked, to see if the event will be held or not, so I’m driving down no matter what.  The event I’m talking about is the Victoria Day Pro Mod Challenge at the Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga.

Very Very interesting.  Cayuga has offered us a lot of excitement in the past, and I’m really looking forward to seeing it again in all it’s might.  It should be a fun filled weekend.

Clean Euro

It is a rarity to see cleanly modified vehicles these days.  Rice seems like it’s very prevalent in all aspects of vehicle modification from custom truck to sport compact.

Proper modification of vehicles I guess is in the eye of the beholder.  All of us remember the local clean euro rides such as the green MKII MINT GTI, JP’s MKII purple job.

Those cars leave a void to be filled, by people souping up their TDI’s and other horrendous road hazards.  So every once in a while it is nice to see one clean clean Vdub, which lives up to it’s Volkswagen heritage.

All VW’s need is a clean set of BBS rims, a drop job and some funky exhaust.  Add some more toys and your car is done like dinner.

Please observe below one of the fine examples of todays cleanly modifed VW’sMint GTI
